Meet Dr. Emily Peissig, Psy.D.

When it comes to psychology, I have many eclectic interests! I love the intersection of law and psychology, the ability to use psychological assessment to answer difficult questions, and the opportunity to work with clients from different backgrounds.

Education and Training

After receiving her undergraduate degree in psychology and legal studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Peissig went on to achieve a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology (WSPP). She then was forensically trained in both treatment and assessment at her pre-doctoral internship at the State Operated Forensic Services, in St. Peter, MN. Dr. Peissig’s doctorate degree in clinical psychology was conferred in August of 2020 and she continued on, completing a formal forensic fellowship at the Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) and Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI).

Licensing

Dr. Peissig became a licensed psychologist in Wisconsin in September 2021 (WI #3985-57) and a licensed psychologist in California in April 2024 (PSY35008). She also holds a Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) and a Temporary Authorization to Practice (TAP) through PSYPACT (#16494) which allows her to provide both in person and telehealth services to states who have PSYPACT legislation. 

Additional Employment

Dr. Peissig currently holds employment at Correctional Healthcare Partners in California, as well as the Department of Health Services (DHS) in Wisconsin. In these capacities she provides forensic assessments including those for competency to stand trial, violence risk, and psychosexual evaluations. She also conducts both neuropsychological and psychological diagnostic assessments for treatment purposes. Dr. Peissig is also a faculty member as WSPP where she teaches psychopathology and provides supervision for clinical assessments.
